A Happiness Project: Mine!

Today I got up extra early, showered, put on makeup, grabbed my garment bag and hopped into

this lovely Lincoln Town Car.

It whisked me into New York City and dropped me off at the front door of ABC Network’s studio that produces

The Katie Show, starring Katie Couric.

I met two other women, Karen and Lisa, in the Green Room; they were there for the same reason I was: We had participated in a two-week “Happiness Boot Camp,” courtesy of author Gretchen Rubin, who custom-designed our three very different sets of resolutions, and The Katie Show, which provided us with video cameras, support and opportunities to improve our happiness quotient.

Author Gretchen Rubin crafted an amazingly effective set of resolutions (and one true challenge) that comprised my two-week Happiness Boot Camp. Working through the challenge forever changed my life. For the better.

We three met Elizabeth, the bravest of us all, in my opinion — she quit her job and spent the year living her own Happiness Project. Elizabeth’s segment aired as part of today’s show; she is warm and inspiring; I’m so happy I met her.

The segment on Lisa, Karen and me is scheduled to air next week. I can tell you that our video montages are delightful and hopefully inspiring. And mine reveals a secret that I’ve kept from most people for the majority of my life. Thanks to Gretchen and Katie I took the opportunity to bust it wide open during my Happiness Boot Camp. Stay tuned, my friends!

Me, Lisa, Michael (Harvard Biz School Prof and author of the upcoming book “Happy Money”), Karen and Elizabeth, happy to be at The Katie Show discussing our happiness quotients.

    No picture with Katie?

    • Nope. They hustled us backstage to de-mic us. When we asked if we could have our photos taken with Katie they said she was too busy prepping for the next show they were taping that day. It was very disappointing.
