Do you get French manicures? They are very popular around Northern New Jersey! I love the look of a classic French manicure, but I don’t get one because the longest it’s ever lasted on my hard-working fingernails is 3 days. The look of the lovely pale pink base polish and shiny white tips hasn’t been worth the extra expense – a traditional French manicure costs even more than a regular manicure, which is already a luxury – nor the extended dry time for all those layers of white tip to dry. And I’m notorious for dinging a newly polished nail!
I’ve stayed my no-traditional-French-manicure course for years. Then came Friday, January 20th. That day after a lot of thought (and encouragement from my darling daughter Tory) I got an OPI Gel French manicure. It cost me $30. Not cheap at all, but I was curious enough and had enough cash in my pocket that I went for it! On OPI’s website the company touts, “OPI’s Axxium gel manicures last up to two weeks without chipping, smudging or cracking.” We’ll see, I thought.
How long has my gel French manicure lasted so far? 13 days and counting! Without a chip or crack. The topcoat looks as shiny as it did the day I got my nails done! The only ‘wear’ I see is along my cuticles; my nails are growing and if I look closely I can see the edge of the manicure top coat. It’s pretty astonishing. I mean, it’s certainly not as great as finding a multivitamin that I can swallow without choking (see here), but it is pretty amazing.
Do you get manicures? Have you tried one of the gel ones yet? What did you think?
P.S. OPI doesn’t know me from a hole in the wall. I received no compensation whatsoever for writing my opinion of its product. The End.
